The Haitiana programme
Haitiana est un programme de recherche bibliographique du Centre Haïtien de Recherche en Sciences Sociales (Charesso). Il prépare une bibliographie générale d'Haïti et des études haïtiennes par le repérage des publications, l'établissement des notices et la vérification de leurs données.
The project
The work combines examination of earlier bibliographies, catalogue research and consultation of documents. Each identified reference has its bibliographic identity checked before admission to the corpus. The protocol distinguishes discovery sources, verification evidence and editorial decisions.
The site is currently a prototype. The final publication scope and preparation of the first dated edition are works in progress. The criteria and procedures are set out in the method.
Two uses
Search identifies publications by title, authors, subjects and publication details. Entries link to identified digital copies and available search leads.
The corpus also provides data for studying languages, document forms and places of publication. Results describe the recorded entries. Their interpretation must account for the sources examined and gaps in coverage.
Three interface languages
Public pages are available in French, Haitian Creole and English. Publication titles remain in the language of the document.
Charesso
The Centre Haïtien de Recherche en Sciences Sociales conducts research and publishing programmes on Haiti. Haitiana is its bibliographic infrastructure.
